An improved tangency condition for fog formation in cooler-condensers

چکیده

In 1950 Johnstone et al. (Ind. Engnq Chem. 42, 2298-2302 (1950)) introduced the tangency condition to determine fog (or mist) formation in binary mixtures in cooled channels. In the present analysis it is demonstrated that their condition is erroneous and an improved equation is derived. The condition is based on the heat and diffusional mass transfer rates to a condenser wall, and the slope of the saturation line of the vapour component at the wall temperature. The transfer rates follow from a thorough analysis of the energy and diffusion equation in a stagnant film next to the wall (the classical ‘film model’ or ‘film theory’). The validity of the improved tangency condition is assessed against wall condensation experiments by Johnstone et ai., concerning mixtures of nitrogen with vapours of water and n-butyl alcohol, yielding satisfactory agreement.

Film models for transport phenomena with fog formation: the fog film model

In a preceding paper (Brouwers and Chesters, Int. J. Heal Mass Transfer 35, l-11 (1992)) possible supersaturation in a film and in the bulk of a binary mixture has been discussed. In the present analysis the exact conditions for fog formation and the magnitude of the fogging and superheated regions in the film are first determined. Next, the governing equation of diffusion and energy (coupled w...

Performance Investigation of Two Two-Stage Trans-Critical Carbon Dioxide Refrigeration Cycles Ejector and Internal Heat Exchanger

In the present work, the performances of improved two-stage multi inter-cooler trans- critical carbon dioxide (CO2) refrigeration cycles with ejector and internal heat exchanger have been examined. In the new improved cycles, an internal heat exchanger is append to the cycles. Also, second inter-cooler in improved cycles, cooled with the refrigeration of the cycle, so that in first c...

Ecological Aspects of Climate Patterns within the Kaimai Ranges, North Island, New Zealand

Meteorological data from stations around and within the Kaimai Ranges and data from temporary sites are used to characterise the climate of the ranges. Lowland climate is warm temperate with ample rainfall but the upland region is cooler, wetter and frequently enveloped in fog. Frequent fog plays an important part in the climate of upland regions. By modifying light, moisture and temperature re...

Development of a Model for Predicting Heart Attack Based on Fog Computing

Introduction: Various studies have demonstrated the benefits of using distributed fog computing for the Internet of Things (IoT). Fog computing has brought cloud computing capabilities such as computing, storage, and processing closer to IoT nodes. The new model of fog and edge computing, compared to cloud computing, provides less latency for data processing by bringing resources closer to user...

A Survey Paper On Single Image Dehazing

Images taken in foggy weather condition often suffer from poor visibility and clarity. Images of the outdoor scene which are captured under bad weather conditions contain atmospheric degradation such as haze, fog, smoke caused by the particles present in the atmosphere resulting in the absorption and scattering of the light, which travels from the scene point of the observer. Due to the presenc...
